Lecture by Buket Kitapçı Bayrı at Boğaziçi University, Istanbul, Türkiye: Diyar-ı Rum’dan Hikayeler (in Turkish)

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Buket Kitapçı Bayrı completed her undergraduate and graduate studies at Boğaziçi University, and her doctorate in a joint PhD program between Boğaziçi University and Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University. She has also served as a researcher at ANAMED and GABAM. Bayrı focuses her work on themes of identity, space, and cultural interaction in the Late Byzantine and early Ottoman periods, and she also conducts research on the perception of Byzantium in modern Turkey. In her book titled Stories from Diyar-ı Rum: Fluid Borders, Changing Identities (13th–15th Centuries), she examines the transformation of identity and belonging in the border regions between Byzantium and the Turkish-Muslim world.
