Lecture by Nurtaç Buluç and Mustafa Ergül at Zeyrek Academy: "Zeyrek’te Katmanlı Hafıza: “Art in Public Space from Byzantium to Modernism”" (In Turkish)
14.30-16.00
One of the oldest residential areas of Istanbul, Zeyrek hosts a multilayered cultural heritage extending from Byzantium to the Ottoman Empire and into the modern period.
“Panels of the City” at Zeyrek Academy presents the collaboration between architecture and art from Byzantium to the Republican era. The project’s founders, Nurtaç Buluç and Mustafa Ergül, will discuss the tradition of production from the Byzantine and Ottoman periods to architectural–art collaborations of the Republican era, within the context of the historical continuity of mosaic and ceramic works produced in public space.
We invite everyone who wishes to explore Istanbul’s layered history of art and architecture together. The talk will be in Turkish.
