How much of what we know about Byzantium is actually true?

In the BÜMED Life Academy program “Bizans İmparatorluğu’nun Renkli Tarihi” ("The Colorful History of the Byzantine Empire"), we look at the Byzantine world beyond common preconceptions.

Led by Assoc. Prof. Koray Durak (BU '98), we will explore Byzantium’s state structure, social and religious life, economy, art, and entertainment culture over the course of three sessions.

We invite everyone who wishes to get to know Byzantium not only through its wars and emperors but also through its daily life and culture.
